About Mike
Michael Vanover has been a lifelong resident of Wells County. A serial entrepreneur, Mike has started and grown several companies, the most significant of which is Clean Fuels National. Under Mike’s leadership, the firm has grown to be the undisputed leader in fuel tank cleaning and an innovator with process and mechanical patents and a service area that includes the lower 48 states.
In addition to his work at Clean Fuels National, Mike is also a career martial artist with 36 years of experience. His accomplishments include ranks of 4th degree blackbelt in Jujutsu from the US Martial Arts Association, a 2nd degree blackbelt from the US Judo Association, and a 4th Degree blackbelt from the USJA. Mike is an NRA certified instructor, a certified force on force instructor, and a certified forensic science technician.
Mike has worked closely on the boards of several Northeast Indiana organizations including the Northeast Regional Partnership, the Northeast Indiana Regional Chamber, and the US 30 Coalition. In 2021, Mike was elected as the 1st District Wells County Commissioner, and is currently President of the Wells County Board of Commissioners
Campaign Platform
- Work toward four lanes of State Road 1 from Bluffton to the County Line with significant state funding
- Identify grant funding for trail construction to follow an expanded State Road 1
- Build a new, more substantial highway garage on a reasonable budget
- Work with our state legislative delegation to bring Wells County’s fair share of road funding back to our community
- Create a business-friendly culture in county government
- Work with fellow Commissioners and community leaders to establish a more robust training program for manufacturing
- Collaborate with existing businesses to foster expansion and job growth
- Work with the city of Bluffton to expand sewer and water utilities to housing development areas
- Identify incentives for residential developments to grow housing stock in Wells County
- Support a streamlined permitting process to keep home building on track
- Work closely with the Wells County Sheriff to expand the jail and provide required upgrades to the physical structure
- Improve community corrections outcomes and lower recidivism rates
- Work with the Sheriff to fund needed training programs to keep officers safe

Accomplishments
- Established the first-ever Advocacy Committee with the Wells County Chamber, giving the business community a voice in local and state government
- Along with my fellow County Commissioners, sold the Wells County Farm at a substantial profit to the county
- Creating a more productive and safer workplace facility for the County Highway Department
- Passed funding for a life-saving speed sign/zone near Southern Wells Schools
